A new study reveals that senior citizens may not be as set in their ways as some may believe.
Conducted at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the study shows that improving cognitive function in the elderly can actually change an aspect of their personality and lead them to try new experiences. The study showed increased openness in a group of seniors who regularly performed inductive reasoning exercises and engaged in mentally stimulating activities like Sudoku.
“What the study does is support what a lot of us know – that older adults are capable of learning, and can change their behaviors based on learning,” said Sandra Swantek, associate professor, psychiatry and behavioral sciences, Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University.
Senior citizens should keep an open mind about most aspects of life, but especially when it comes to life insurance coverage if they have dependents and loved ones that need to be financially taken care of should the unforeseen happen. To ensure that loved ones are properly cared for in the future, it's a good idea to compare life insurance quotes online from competing companies to single out the most attractive rate.
