The results of a new study, available in Arthritis Care & Research, reveals that two in five adults suffering from rheumatoid arthritis are physically inactive.
Published by Wiley-Blackwell on behalf of the American College of Rheumatology, the study found that 42 percent of those suffering from the disorder are inactive, and the ACR estimated that nearly 1.3 million American adults are diagnosed with this or a similar disorder.
"While there is much evidence of the benefits of physical activity, RA patients are generally not physically active, and physicians often do not encourage regular physical activity in this patient population," said Dr. Jungwha Lee, one of the researchers. "Our study aims to expand understanding of the risk factors associated with inactivity among adults with RA and encourage clinical interventions that promote participation in physical activity."
Inactivity can lead to further health issues, especially in senior citizens, which is why all adults should have the proper insurance protection in place. For the sake of family members, dependents and loved ones, one should consider a life insurance policy. Comparing life insurance quotes online is an effective way to pay less for more coverage.
