The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America is producing a video series in honor of Alzheimer's disease awareness month.
The Alzheimer's Association states that an American will develop the ailment every 33 seconds by 2050, costing the United States healthcare system an estimated $1.1 trillion. The video series from PhRMA will highlight the devastation the disease causes patients, their families, caregivers and the U.S. healthcare system as a whole.
"This is a call to action to help raise funds and awareness of the impact Alzheimer's disease has on millions of patients and their caregivers," said John Castellani, president and CEO of PhRMA. "Biopharmaceutical research companies recognize the great need for an innovative treatment to help delay or prevent the onset of Alzheimer's. To help meet this need, they are researching and developing nearly 100 medicines for Alzheimer's and other dementias."
Alzheimer's disease typically affects the elderly and those on the brink of senior citizen status. An effective life insurance policy is strongly recommended for individuals of this age if they have dependents who rely on their financial contributions. Comparing life insurance quotes online will allow senior citizens, a demographic typically associated with high premiums, the ability to find the lowest rate available for coverage.
