A new survey conducted on behalf of the Bankers Life and Casualty Company Center For a Secure Retirement set out to find the best cities in the United States for senior citizens, and the results include several major metropolitan areas.
Minneapolis was deemed number one, with Pittsburgh, Boston, Denver and Cleveland featured in the top five.
"Most surprising is that the survey results contain many cities we don't often associate with senior living," said Scott Perry, president of Bankers Life and Casualty Company, the life and health insurer. "We weren't interested in another study on where to enjoy your retirement, but instead wanted to find cities that did the best job in providing the services and support that seniors need."
The criteria in which the survey was based on include healthcare, economy, social outlets, environment, housing, health and longevity, spiritual life, transportation and crime rates.
Senior citizens looking for fulfilling and rewarding golden years will want the peace of mind that comes with an adequate life insurance policy. Providing for a spouse and loved ones is something many people take great pride in, and there are no shortage of providers willing to offer coverage to those 65 and older.
