New research from the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience and Academic Medical Center shows that senior citizens who take daily doses of aspirin are twice as likely to experience age-related loss of vision.
According to Reuters Health, the loss of vision in senior citizens is attributed to late-stage macular degeneration, and seniors who take aspirin run a greater chance of experiencing the ailment as opposed to senior citizens who refrain from taking the pain reliever.
"I don't think that's surprising," William Christen of Birgham and Women's Hospital in Boston, told Reuters Health about the researchers' findings. "I think the effects of aspirin may be different in the early stages of age-related macular degeneration than in the late stages."
Senior citizens are prone to a variety of life threatening and non-threatening health issues and diseases as they grow older. Life insurance companies can charge higher premiums to those 65 and older because they pose a greater risk in coverage. However, term life insurance policies and other life coverage exist to serve seniors who need an affordable life insurance policy for the financial protection of their dependents and loved ones.
