A new application for the iPhone plans to help baby boomers and senior citizens battle short-term memory lapse.
The "It's Done!" app will instantly confirm whether the person has accomplished common daily tasks that may be forgotten due to momentary memory lapses. Turning off the stove, taking prescribed medication, locking the door and other activities can be tracked and managed through the app.
"Everyone forgets whether they did something every now and then," said A.J. Lester, creator of the app. "And, for those people, It's Done! is a fun and handy app for confirming stuff is done. But, for baby boomers, short-term memory lapse can be a real problem."
Memory loss can happen for any number of reasons[,] but high levels of iron in the brain have been attributed to such memory-debilitating ailments as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. Recent research from the University of California Los Angeles suggests that hysterectomies can cause a higher risk of brain disease in women.
