The elderly and disabled of New Jersey could qualify for help next year when it comes to paying for their hearing aids, utility bills and prescription drugs, according to New Jersey news source The Record.
State officials announced more Garden State residents who are elderly and disabled will qualify for the extra help, as income limits will be raised for four assistance programs that function to benefit these groups, according to the news source.
While the eligibility expansion for these programs is good news, it might be difficult for some people to recognize they need this sort of assistance and take steps to discuss their situation with loved ones, Casey Dowd wrote in "The Boomer," a column published by Fox Business.
"Boomers tend to avoid touchy topics regarding their own and family members’ financial and health future," Dowd wrote. "Questions like, 'what will happen when mom needs to go to a nursing home?' or "what are we going to do with dad's stuff when he passes?' are often not asked. But we can’t ignore these scenarios forever; unfortunately they aren’t a matter of 'if,' but of 'when'."
The answers to these pressing questions can often come in the form of a life insurance policy. The right coverage can put many senior worries and issues to rest, including how their dependents and loved ones will fare after they've passed on and how a child's college tuition will be paid for. Comparing life insurance quotes online is a good way to find the most attractive price for the policy being shopped for.
