Flu vaccinations available to senior citizens

09/26/11

Senior citizens across the country can benefit from the seasonal flu vaccine available in participating clinics.

Despite a shrinking immunization budget experienced by the Massachusetts Department of Health, the state is offering up its available supply of seasonal flu vaccine to all senior citizens experiencing high-risk health issues, according to the Amherst Bulletin.

In New Jersey, the Montvale Board of Health, in conjunction with the Health Awareness Regional Program and Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission are offering discounted flu vaccinations to seniors who do not have Medicare Part B, according to NorthJersey.com.

"It is commonly approved for anyone older than 6 months of age, including those people with chronic medical conditions," Dr. David Crary told the Amarillo Globe-News. "Individuals 65 and older may choose to receive a high-dose shot, and those between the ages of 18 and 64 may prefer the intradermal shot; however, the standard vaccine is still the norm."

Although life insurance is ideally purchased before old age and disease sets in, affordable rates can still be found by anyone who gets a clean bill of health and takes the proper route. Comparing life insurance quotes online is the best way to single out an affordable price for coverage.
