U.S. cancer patients may be interested in a treatment strategy being developed in the United Arab Emirates, where patients who aren't able to make it to a hospital or need immediate care that doesn't involve a medical emergency will now be able to use an iPad to communicate with a doctor in Dubai.
The U.A.E. Ministry of Health recently launched the app at the Arab Congress. The app will connect individuals with a physician who can answer questions on treatment plans or provide suggestions on how to deal with side effects of any medication they might be taking.
The application is now available from the iPad store and can help connect patients with doctors at anytime during the day.
"This application facilitates communication between cancer patients and physicians in the U.A.E.," Khalid Majid Lootah, assistant under-secretary for supporting services at the Ministry, said to the Gulf News.
The idea for the application came from physicians who complained that home care for cancer patients needed to be upgraded.
According to the World Health Organization, cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide, which might encourage many individuals in the United States and abroad to invest in life insurance.
