Decision Resources, a top research and advisory firm for healthcare and pharmaceutical issues, recently released findings that indicate the Alzheimer's disease drug market is expected to triple over the next 10 years.
The increase will bring the estimated market worth from $5.4 billion recorded in 2010 to $14.3 billion in 2020 for the U.S. and several other countries including France, Germany, Spain and the U.K.
"Thought leaders are cautiously optimistic that the anti-Ass MAbs will be able to slow the rate of neurodegeneration and consequently cognitive and functional decline - however, they await evidence from ongoing late-stage clinical trials," said Georgiana Kuhlmann, analyst at Decision Resources. "Assuming the MAbs are able to demonstrate such efficacy, they will have the greatest clinical and commercial promise among therapies included in our forecast for Alzheimer's disease."
