Minnesota Life Insurance Company, provider of group life coverage, recently announced it has won a contract from the Employees Retirement System of Texas.
The St. Paul-based company will provide term life insurance to ERS participants starting January 1, 2012, with coverage offered to roughly 301,000 employees and retirees, and a total of 120,000 dependents.
"Minnesota Life demonstrated that they have the experience and capability to administer a plan of our size," said Ann Fuelberg, executive director of ERS. "We are very pleased with their willingness to open an office in Austin to provide local service to our participants."
Term life insurance is a viable option for baby boomers and senior citizens in need of a life policy that will provide financial security for their dependents and loved ones moving forward. Term life is smart for high risk applicants because it typically does not require a medical check-up in order to obtain coverage.
Minnesota Life also insures state employees in 15 other states including Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin and others.
