With almost twenty years of experience in the insurance industry, Donald Scully was recently selected to lead MassMutual's general Louisiana insurance agency, Fleur de Lis Financial Inc., the company announced.
In a statement, Scully stressed the unique and important role life insurance continues to play in the lives of Americans, especially in a difficult economic climate.
"Today, people want to trust that you are going to be there for them. MassMutual has been operating since 1851 and we have been in the state of Louisiana since 1883," Scully said. "We have been a safe harbor for people through the Great Depression, WWII, and most recently the 2008 economic crisis. We have been here and continue to add comfort and security for our clients."
Fleur de Lis, with more than $1.5 billion in life insurance policies in Louisiana, serves areas across the state, including New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
Life insurance continues to be a need for many Americans. According to the Insurance Information Institute, individual life insurance policies cover only about one third of all Americans, despite the fact that premiums fell by almost 16 percent in 2010.
