During the month of September, which has unofficially been named life insurance awareness month, Lincoln Financial Group is helping to raise awareness and understanding of the need for life insurance protection.
The company is reaching out to consumers through a number of online outlets, including social media sites like Facebook. The company is also using Life Insurance Awareness month as a platform to announce its newest product, an indexed universal life policy designed to help clients save for retirement, college expenses and other costs.
"The importance of life insurance can't be overstated," said Mark Konen, president of insurance and retirement solutions for Lincoln Financial. "Whether it's individual, group, universal or term life insurance, it provides a measure of stability and protection to help people stay in control of their financial futures."
According to the Insurance Information Institute, only about one in three Americans had an individual insurance policy in 2010, the lowest number in half a century.
Many Americans abandoned life insurance policies in the wake of the economic recession because the products were expensive and seemed out of touch. In response, many life insurance providers have adjusted their products to allow for more flexibility.
