Life Insurance Corporation announces favorable A.M. Best rating

Life Insurance Corporation International recently announced that A.M. Best has reinforced it's favorable financial strength and issuer credit rating for the company. LICI, an English Company that targets the expatriate community in India, relies heavily on the internal processes of its parent company, Life Insurance Corporation India. A.M. Best does note that the lack of a strong, independent internal structure and the company's reliance on its parent are potentially detrimental factors in evaluating the overall strength of the company, however, its firm standing in a niche market provides a secure financial future with a favorable profit projection.


A.M. Best says in its report that should LICI expand as it has suggested it will, it will have to build a stronger internal structure and an independent product engineering division along with dedicated actuaries and an independent enterprise risk management structure.

The recent volatility in the U.S. stock market has had a significant impact on European and other North American life insurance markets. Although figures from LIMRA showed life insurance subscription at 50 year lows in 2010, sales of annuities saw significant year-over-year increases in the second quarter of 2011.
