A new poll conducted by the Associated Press and LifeGoesStrong.com has found that people born between 1947 and 1965 believe that they are as young as they feel and have every intention of continuing to work as they get older, rather than live a passive retirement, HealthNews reports.
Working longer may be the result of poor retirement planning and a lack of long-term investments such as annuities, or it could just represent a desire to stay active. Most boomers said that they plan on working until at least age 65, many saying they will stay employed as they approach 70.
The study also found that individuals are most concerned with changes to their physical strength and health as they age, more than about beauty. They tend to be more concerned about their finances and overall health, rather than worrying about more vain problems.
Baby boomers eat healthier and exercise more than their parents did, improving their overall health outlook. They also drink and smoke much less than older generations, preserving their health and prolonging stamina. One in three boomers say they are focused on their health, with 25 percent focused on mental abilities and only 8 percent are worried about their looks.
