A growing number of Americans are concerned that their retirement savings may not be enough to maintain the standard of living they are accustomed to, according to a recent Gallup poll. People are also worried about not being able to pay their medical bills in the event of a serious accident.
The annual survey found that Americans were least concerned with making minimum credit card payments and not being able to pay for their housing costs. Gallup has been polling the population about their financial concerns for the past decade.
The number of Americans worried about not being able to maintain their lifestyle is at an all[-]time high and may have some individuals looking at investment options such as annuities that may guarantee a lifelong payout.
All areas of concern are up in the post-recession polls and may not go down until the country re-stabilizes. With two-thirds of Americans worried about retirement this level matches last year’s record high.
Retirement seems to be a major point of concern for individuals in the 30 to 49-year-old range, with 77 percent of people worried about not having enough money. Seniors were found to be much less worried.
