Cancer and Life Insurance: For Patients and Survivors
The principal purpose of this page is to inform you that—YES—you can qualify for affordable life insurance even if you have a history of cancer, and Wholesale Insurance can help you shop for it even if you have already been declined elsewhere.
In fact, you may even qualify for standard life insurance rates after suffering from cancer.
Speak with a qualified life insurance advisor
Call us to begin your pricing insurance policies. It is currently not practical to provide accurate life insurance quotes for cancer survivors online. Why?
• Different life insurance carriers price life insurance for cancer survivors differently. It’s our job to find which companies will accept you and to get you the best price.
• There are myriad varieties of cancer. Each of which indicates its own protocol of treatment and surveillance. Each of which likewise entails its own criteria for
calculating price. (Again, protocols and prices differ from carrier to carrier.)
• Medical science has evolved much, and we hope it will continue to improve. Conditions that used to bar individuals from affordable life insurance rates may not be an issue now.
Call (800) 823-4852 and ask to confer with one of our life insurance advisors.
What we want to know from you
Cancer is not a simple issue, and we may require different information depending on what type of cancer you have experienced. However, the following are relevant from any applicant:
• Grade refers to how aggressive the cancer is, that is, how much the cancerous cells differ from healthy cells of the same tissue and how rapidly they replicate.
• Staging refers to the extent of the cancer. How large is it? Has it spread from its tissue of origin?
• Treatments you have undergone influence your life insurance rates and/or acceptance. Surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and immunotherapy are common
treatments at present. One or more may be required before an applicant can be accepted.
• How long has it been since your diagnosis? How long has it been since your treatment was completed? Under some circumstances, an applicant will not be considered for some period after remission.
• Follow-up care is indicated for some types of cancer, particularly those most likely to recur. This may be as simple as regular doctor visits to monitor you for recurrence.
The aforementioned factors weigh in differently depending on the type of cancer concerned. Some popular varieties include:
• Bladder cancer
• Breast cancer
• Cervical cancer
• Colorectal cancer/colon cancer/rectal cancer
• Leukemia
• Lung cancer
• Lymphoma
• Prostate cancer
• Skin cancer
• Testicular cancer
However, even within one of the organs mentioned above, cancer may attack different tissues. We will need to know which of the following has/have afflicted you:
• Carcinoma (adenocarcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, small cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, transitional cell carcinoma)
• Melanoma
• Sarcoma
• Seminoma
Give us a call. Once we have more information about your situation, we will let you know all of your options. Getting life insurance as a cancer patient or survivor is possible. (800) 823-4852
