What's Involved in the Medical Exam?

Life Insurance Medical Exam

At WholesaleInsurance.net, we use a service called Superior Mobile Medics to handle all of our medical examinations. Superior Mobile Medics uses licensed nurses and doctors to travel out to your home or office to give the life insurance medical exam. This service is free of charge, and because of our traveling nurses, it's also simple and easy.

The paramedical examiner will contact you to schedule an appointment within 2-3 business days after submitting your request for life insurance. The examiner will meet you wherever is most convenient for you. Once the examiner arrives, they will weigh and measure you, check your blood pressure, and take a blood and urine sample. Depending on the carrier you are applying with, they may also complete a medical questionnaire obtaining medical history and doctor information.

The medical exam has a lot to do with the final rate of your policy. Below are tips for helping you get the best results from your exam. Make sure you do these suggestions for the 24 hours prior to the exam:

  • Get a good night's sleep the night before the examination
  • Abstain from alcoholic beverages (which can cause artificially high blood pressure and pulse readings)
  • Do not smoke or chew tobacco
  • Avoid drinking coffee, tea, or caffeinated soft drinks (including cola) which can also cause artificial blood pressure and pulse readings
  • Limit salt intake and high cholesterol foods
  • Try to avoid stress of any kind. Stress can also cause artificially high blood pressure and pulse readings.
